This song is meant to illustrate the simple joys of the holidays. I often have a hard time finding the joy when society/culture ‘tells me to’. I’m sure many of you can relate.

After a particularly difficult, and depressing year, I felt the urge to write about the simple things that can act as temporary placeholders for darkness, even for a few weeks. I needed a song that would remind me that I’m allowed to feel ‘happy’ during this beloved season, much like I did when I was a kid - the comfort, the familiarity, simple, good ol’ uncomplicated happy - which can be so difficult to achieve. I am accepting that I cannot own, control, save, or fix everything or anyone.

I sing of how much I miss my long distance friendships, and we’re all getting older, and how growing up doesn't change the fact that I will enjoy the moment while it lasts.

Snowflakes, liquor, lights and trees; the simple things can be enough for now.
